Recent Events

Recent Event Numero Uno: Sami moved in! Yaaaaay! She and her friend, Christina, drove up from South Florida on Wednesday and arrived that same night. I'm so happy that they made it here safely. And now, let the fun begin! Well, technically, we've already had a ton of fun. We went shopping, got her hooked up with an iPhone, and she and Christina went to Pullen Park and enjoyed a nice afternoon of paddle boating. Not to mention, we also had a fab time at the NC State Got To Be Festival. But more about that later.

Okay, it's 'later'. I LOVE CARNIVALS AND FAIRS! I love the games, the terrible food, and the rides...not that I went on any this time around. Anyway, we all enjoyed the festival so much that we had to go on both Saturday and Sunday! Not kidding. Yesterday, we enjoyed deep fried food as well as a female roller derby match. It was very interesting and entertaining considering the fact that I've never seen a game in person before.

Today, we went back to the fairgrounds for turkey legs, funnel cakes, games, and pig races. Yes, I said pig races. It was probably the coolest thing I've ever seen. Or maybe the cutest. Please see photos below for proof! And after we got our fill at the festival, we went to the theatre to catch a showing of the latest Star Trek movie. It was pretty good; no complaints!

Enjoy the photos. :)

Pig Butt on a Stick!!

Deep fried...everything!

Trying my first deep fried Reese's peanut butter cup. I thought it was going to be awful. It was delicious...

ROLLER DERBY!

The 'Killamazoo' girls are from Kalamazoo, Michigan. Go figure.

Turkey legs!

At the pig races.

So cute!

Go pigs, go!

Ducks racing. :)

Sami's pig won a race!

If I could change anything about this afternoon, we would've won the stuffed unicorn at the fair. Everyone tried winning it for me, but no luck. *sigh* Maybe next time!
